Universal Credit is a new benefit which replaces Income Support, Income Based Employment Support Allowance, Income Based Jobseekers Allowance, Tax Credits and Housing Benefit with a single monthly payment. This means if you are looking to make a fresh claim for any of the above, your claim will be processed as Universal Credit.
Whilst Universal Credit has already replaced Income Based Jobseekers allowance for most claimants in Greater Manchester, the full service is to be implemented one area at a time until late 2018; with Altrincham and Stretford next to adopt the service from 17th July 2017. Claimants in full service areas will need an online account to claim and manage their benefits.
