Announcing: the Greater Manchester Law Centre manifesto launch with our patron Maxine Peak, Shadow Justice Secretary Richard Burgon MP and Moss Side human rights lawyer Robert Lizar on the evening of Thursday 11th April.

We are finalists in the Manchester Legal Awards
We are pleased to announce that our project with the Manchester Law School has been nominated for Manchester’s Pro Bono/Community Initiative Award. Students from Manchester Metropolitan University’s Law School receive GMLC’s professional training and supervision, meet disabled and unwell people who have been refused benefits, prepare their cases and represent them in tribunals with overwhelming success.
Alison Law Solicitors donate £200 per month to GMLC
We would like to express our thanks to local firm Alison Law Solicitors, who have generously offered to donate £200 per month to GMLC for the rest of 2019.

We are grateful for all the lawyers who support the pro bono, charitable and legal aid services. At the same time we will continue to call for the restoration of legal aid nationally.

Our latest column in Law Society Messenger
We have a monthly column in the Law Society Messenger. This month, GMLC volunteer Arwa Graf gives her perspective of GMLC’s work and vision.
“Two years of volunteering at GMLC has taught me a great deal about the legal profession and the benefits system. There are many different experiences that have helped me progress and learn more about the justice system. However, one of the hardest obstacles was overcoming my emotions when working with the people who come to us.
“Nothing can prepare you for the horrors that people go through, or the battles they must face. No manual or book helps you to understand their difficulties until you see it yourself. You’re left with a person who has lost almost all hope, and they see you as the only one left who might be able to help.”

- Ask for a letter of support from your local councillor/MP/community organisation/trade union branch and send it in to us.
