We have 2 reception desks. By the time our clients make it to our door, they are tired of being ignored, of being put on hold, of being passed from place to place. Our frontline volunteers work on reception to allocate appointments, refer people to the correct services, and listen to the concerns of our community.

We have 6 interview rooms which allow for confidentiality and privacy. It is in here that our clients receive free, high quality legal advice and representation with our professional caseworkers, from help with benefit application forms to preparing for a tribunal.

Waiting areas: 39 people donating £20 per month

We have 2 waiting areas, stocked with drinking water and children’s toys for the comfort of our clients. We know that they are frustrated and often anxious by the time they reach us and we want them to be comfortable. We have also used these areas for volunteer training events in the evenings.

Caseworker rooms: 60 people donating £30 per month

We have 4 desks in our caseworker room. We have won back over £500,000 in benefits that our clients should not have been denied in the first place. Neither GMLC nor our caseworkers take a penny of this, because it rightfully belongs to our clients.

Volunteer Training Room: 10 people donating £40 per month

We are dedicated to supporting the next generation of social welfare lawyers. Our caseworkers train and supervise law students so that they can represent clients at appeal hearings. These students have gone on to secure victory for clients who otherwise may have been unable to secure representation, and many made impressive advances in their own careers as a result. Our volunteer training room is also used for meetings with other campaign groups and local politicians.
