We are incredibly honored to announce that Dr Dawn Edge has agreed to become a patron of the Greater Manchester Law Centre (steering group).
Dawn is a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor at the University of Manchester. Her research focuses on tackling inequalities in health and access to care under-served groups such as ethnic minorities and people involved with the Criminal Justice System. Building on extensive community-engagement, she is currently working with people of African and Caribbean heritage and other key stakeholders to develop, test, and implement new psychosocial interventions and educational resources for people diagnosed with schizophrenia and their families http://www.bbmh.manchester.ac.uk/ReACH/aboutus.
Dawn is also the university’s Academic Lead for Diversity & Inclusion with a specific remit to improve staff and student recruitment, retention, progression. She is currently working with others within the university and nationally to theorise and develop strategies to improve student experience of university; specifically addressing the ‘attainment gap’ where, despite equivalent grades on entry, some groups of students are less likely to receive ‘good degrees’ on completion of their degrees. Dawn is an active supporter of the ‘Black Lawyers Matter’campaign.
